Following the information regarding your management’s foreseen new strategy concerning the Airline and its possible impact on the working conditions of the staff, the LCGB-SEA wants to inform you of its position.
First a short introduction: Although the Collective Work Agreement (CWA) of Luxair expired at the end of 2009, the LCGB-SEA abstained from revoking it and/or requesting the opening of negotiations! (The CWA will continue in its current form until a new CWA is signed). This was done because we think that in the current difficult environment of the air transport sector especially after the financial crisis, it is not the right time to negotiate.

The LCGB-SEA’s position is that the collective work agreement is not a tool to absorb the effects of a crisis.
For this reason, as well as in the interest of total transparency, we have contacted the Ministers in order to discuss the repercussions on the staff concerning this new strategy, in a ‘tripartite meeting’ and not at the expense of a collective work agreement which has proven itself in recent years. This meeting will place all players around the table: LUXAIR, the trade unions and the Luxembourg government, which is the majority shareholder.
The LCGB-SEA is and will always be listening to any possible problems or concerns of the staff and management. As already in the past, we wish to actively contribute to finding solutions in a climate of transparency and mutual respect. It is our duty to defend the interests of the LUXAIR Staff and therefore to do everything in our power to ensure the preservation of their existence, as well as the sustainability of the company.
Do not hesitate to contact us for additional information.
